A prime example of wasted potential and excessive bloat in our streaming TV era. Go to Full Review

The writer Nick Antosca layers on twists that keep coming, most of which upend and advance things cleverly, some of which are just a bit wild. Go to Full Review

As the season progresses, characters are increasingly likely to articulate takeaways that are already obvious. This is not the work of writers confident in their storytelling abilities, let alone their audience’s level of comprehension. Go to Full Review

For the purists it can be confirmed that this “Cape Fear” cannot possibly be ranked next to the films, but as TV it’s a strong summer entertainment. Go to Full Review

A show that feels as if it’s bunging in pretty much everything it can think of in the hope we won’t notice what a shame it is that the thrilling tautness of the films has been sacrificed to the demands of box-set television. Go to Full Review

Johnny W. @cinephile299 3h Very disappointing. The kids may be the worst actors ever. They’ve taken a Scorcese masterpiece and despite the great adult cast, ruined the title forever. See more Albert M @RT42719333 5h Very entertaining so far. I’ve lived in the south and I’ve never met anyone with an accent like Amy Adams here, sounds like she got her accept from a very old movie set in the south. See more Alex J @RT51904888 10h You probably didn’t think we needed another iteration of Cape Fear. Too bad the studio didn’t realize this before streaming it. Nothing in this update is worth the time investment, watch one of the good movies instead. See more AJ B @DallasMajor212 14h First episode was difficult to get into but after 3, I was hooked. Adams and Bardem are incredible, as is the rest of the cast. So anxiety inducing, but so good. See more Jaime B @RT83643239 20h I couldn't even finish the first episode. When Cady strolls into the benefit, takes the mic and starts his rambling lecture that's when I shut this crap off. What a terrible way to introduce your villain who at this point has already gotten into the family home, drowned skunks in their pool (which no one cleans up) and more importantly convinced his mistress to take blame for the crime and shoot herself? BTW: How does he know to call at the exact time of her failed suicide? Dumb, dumb, dumb. The moody, self-face slapping son watching a video game? about Max Cady's unborn son? Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams have no chemistry and aren't believable. The only character anyone might care about is the daughter who seems like the only one who isn't damaged. Go watch the Scorcese movie instead of wasting your time on this slop. See more Steven Y. @stu33 1d Incredibly tense and Javier Bardem is AMAZING in his role as Max Cade. Definitely award worthy.
