nowhere near as smart or as subversive as Crouch appears to think it is, but it is pulpy watchable entertainment even if it makes you want to read the novel for hopefully something with a little more bite

I'm usually skeptic about TV series and movies based on novels as they rarely live up to the print version, but this show is elite, maybe even better than the book. It doesn't hurt that Blake Crouch is behind it all, making sure it's true to his original story and even going beyond the written word. This is as good as it gets.

As with nearly ALL AppleTV series, this one dilutes (and bloats) whatever story there may be is by paddind it with melodramatic filler that it becomes tedious and a bore. This critique also includes SILO, StarCity, For All Mankind. and Severence. All great concepts but after 1 or 2 episodes they barely rise above ho-hum. At least Severence made it to season 2 before it fizzled out. Padded with filler is the operative phrase in all cases. I mean the more episodes the better, right?
