Even as it leaves any subtlety as a distant speck in its rear view mirror, Shankar’s spin on Devil May Cry is mostly a fun love letter to the qualities that made it popular as well as the sounds of the time when it emerged. Go to Full Review

As a fan of the Devil May Cry games, I'm thrilled with the new series. The action is intense, the music is metal, and it stays true to the source material. The characters are well-written, the humor is dark, and the story is beyond exciting. A Must Watch! Go to Full Review

Devil May Cry has a lot of potential to be something great, as there are real strokes of genius in the action, humor, and themes present in the narrative that generally capture a lot of what makes the DMC game franchise interesting. Go to Full Review

chad D. @Chaddie 3d Any fan of the Capcom universe will love this, tons of Easter eggs, and true to the game as far as Dante. Great animation and should not be missed! See more @Cfunker Dec 17 The only part of this show that was any good was when Dante was acting like Donte. Everything else was just painful to watch. I don't care about Lady or her team, I don't care about the US government being bad, I don't care about the non-existent story (one sentence synopsis: Government is mean to demons and people/demons get hurt). Genuinely surprised it got renewed for a second season. See more Alexandre S Nov 26 Como pode um cara fazer tamanha atrocidade , oque mais me impressiona é ainda deixarem o Adi Shankar fazer alguma coisa, e como massacraram a Lady meu Deus simplesmente insuportável See more Dan A Nov 24 It's like a joke. Every scene HAS to have a joke in it. Something serious happens, make sure to have Dante act like a goofy silly goofball hehe he's such a goof jeewiz. I feel like the writer just got the spark notes on dmc and has no feel for the vibe. I couldn't make it past the second episode, maybe it gets better. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Sep 19 So let me start off by saying this: I’m not a big anime person. I’ll watch them because I like to review everything, and I want to give every genre a fair chance, but usually, anime isn’t my go-to. That being said—wow. Devil May Cry completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. I went in expecting to sit back and just “get through it” so I could write my review, and instead, I found myself totally hooked. By the end, I was infatuated. What Netflix has done here is take a franchise I barely knew anything about and make me want more. The series is fast, brutal, stylish, and honestly one of the most entertaining anime experiences I’ve ever had. I didn’t need years of background knowledge or prior series experience—it grabbed me right where I was. The character work is what sold me first. Dante is an absolutely incredible lead. His design, personality, and swagger make him one of those characters you can’t take your eyes off. He’s sharp, cool, and unpredictable, but at the same time, you feel a real presence behind him. Then you have the Lieutenant and the White Rabbit—two characters who, for me, elevated this series into something special. They aren’t just throwaway side figures, they carry weight. They add depth and unpredictability. Honestly, the White Rabbit’s design alone is worth the price of admission. If I could have a statue of Dante and the White Rabbit in my house, I would, because they look like cinematic art pieces. The villains are also handled well. They aren’t just faceless enemies to be beaten. They bring tension, they make you think they could win, and they keep every fight interesting. That’s the thing about Devil May Cry—the battles aren’t one-sided. It’s not Dante just dominating from start to finish. It’s back-and-forth. You’re watching, and you really don’t know who’s going to come out on top until the final blow lands. That unpredictability makes the action feel alive and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Speaking of action—the animation is outstanding. The fight sequences are fluid, explosive, and filled with detail. You can pause at any moment and almost have a frame that feels like a piece of art. The stylization, the colors, the character designs—everything screams “cinematic masterpiece.” Even if you’ve never seen an anime before, this is the kind of animation that makes you stop and just admire the craft. Now, I’ll admit, not every single episode worked perfectly for me. Out of the eight episodes, there was one where I felt the pacing dipped. It dragged a little, and I found myself kind of wanting to fast-forward just to get back to the meat of the story. But honestly, if out of an entire season I only felt that once, that’s a huge win. The rest of the series was engaging, sharp, and extremely well-paced. On the writing side, the dialogue felt sharp, the tone stayed consistent, and the voice cast really sold every scene. There wasn’t a single character that felt like they didn’t belong. The storytelling is layered with action, dark atmosphere, and enough intrigue to keep you clicking “next episode” without hesitation. Final Verdict: Even though I don’t usually connect with anime, I was blown away by Devil May Cry. It’s stylish, brutal, emotional, and above all, entertaining from start to finish. The characters are unforgettable, the design work is jaw-dropping, and the action delivers at every turn. With only one slower episode in an otherwise tightly packed season, I can confidently say this is an A+ recommendation—whether you’re a hardcore anime fan or a newcomer like me.
