Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) It’s a canny mix of criminal aspiration, period glamour, and maternal resilience, so that risk and reward become dangerously intertwined in Turner’s compelling performance. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Camilla Long The Times (UK) I found the programme glassy, clichéd and slow. Oct 9, 2024 Full Review Kylie Northover The Age (Australia) The 1980s London setting is great fun; both the production and costume design are superb, as is the ’80s hit-laden soundtrack. Rated: 4/5 Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Joan is an example of a show that rides on the lead performance, where Sophie Turner effectively shows Joan Hannington’s transformation from struggling working-class mother to one of Britain’s most notorious jewel thieves. Dec 21, 2024 Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Played by Sophie Turner, Joan was portrayed in a mostly positive way, her troubled past largely hinted at... At other times the script had all the depth and subtlety of a pop video. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said Turner appears to relish this juicy role that offers a variety of personas to play while she must remain Joan at the core. Clever, fun, and thrilling, an exceptional woman who does things her way, damn the dissenters. Rated: 4/4 Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Avindu G Mothers a wonderful kind that goes against thousand odds for love. The synopsis suggest of a lady bandit's misadventures but this drama how merciless the calculations of welfare institutions can get. How unforgiving the wealth gap could be. It's a heartbreaking story about love that explores the human emotions that gets factored out in judgements. Excellent performance by Sophie Turner through all phases of Joan's character. Great visuals and backdrops to fit flawlessly with the timeline. Great music and audio effects. Joan is a roller coaster rode of emotions that concludes with a hard realistic end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Cindy M Well acted and hard to believe this is based on a true story-wildly implausible but believable and likeable characters make this a fun watch! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Jen E A very good performance from Sophie T Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Debbra W Sophie Turner shined, I feel it dealt with the different facets of escapism, desperation, trauma and oppression well. It is a cut above a lot of tv out there! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review GT M One of the best dramas I’ve seen for a while, great story line and superb acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Michael P Slow and predictable. If you have nothing better to do. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
