I’m actually able to put politics and reality aside ( unlike most folks on here) to just enjoy a show. While season 1 was overall outstanding, season 2 has drifted to become obscene in the gratuitous way sex is addressed and women are portrayed. Tommy's wife and daughter's characters are constantly demeaned. They are portrayed as manipulative airheads, and are cringworthy when they appear in a scene. Are there no women writers who will stand up to how they are portrayed? No one would want their mother portrayed like this, or the daughter treated like this. The show is better than this. Grow up! It baffles me, and is legitimately pathetic, why critics generally find this even remotely acceptable. Even some of the most sexist individuals in my life find the portrayal of women in this show disappointing. See more Richard B @rcb361 5d Finally, a show that isn’t drenched in the usual woke tropes. It’s clear that many of the negative reviews stem from that alone. So far, it avoids the left’s typical stereotypical characters, which is refreshing. The acting is outstanding across the board. Billy Bob Thornton, in particular, delivers an incredible performance that anchors the entire series. If there’s one drawback, it’s that his wife Ali and their daughter can feel a bit over the top at times. Still, they do bring some humor to the mix, so it’s not a dealbreaker.
