Critics Consensus

Mo is still full of mirth even as world events weigh heavily on its shoulders in this second and final season, carrying the load with characteristic grace.

Hannah Giorgis The Atlantic One of the delights of watching Mo is how clearly the series engages with all of its characters’ complexities -- Palestinians, the show’s blundering protagonist included, don’t have to be perfect to hold our attention. Mar 12, 2025 Full Review Phillip Maciak The New Republic In some ways, it is quite fast: While its style is a recognizable observational realism, it moves with the speed of a caper, egged on by Amer’s fast-talking monologues. And, narratively, it’s had to hurry itself along. Feb 24, 2025 Full Review Dan Einav Financial Times But as before, Mo finds laughs where tears would be more expected. Rated: 4/5 Feb 8, 2025 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site Amer as a humorist-artist and a human being faces a very difficult, painful situation. The circumstances of the last nearly 17 months of unceasing mass killings by the Israeli forces have nothing comical about them. Apr 24, 2025 Full Review Sarah Jessica Rintjema Exclaim! It's a show about refusing to harden from abuse and mimic the behaviour of your oppressors, and instead nourishing your natural softness. Rated: 9/10 Mar 4, 2025 Full Review Joseph Fahim Middle East Eye Mo 2 is a Disneyfied version of the Palestinian cause: a confused comedy that wants to have its cake and eat it; an irrefutable emotional saga with a lot of heart that nevertheless feels ill-fitting in the politically charged post-7 October world. Ray S Really funny show. Great stories. Must watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Stephen C 8 funny and successful episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Faye R What an incredible show through and through Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Skyler L Season 2 of Mo leaves you with so many raw emotions. From the raw realities of life as a refugee- the societal and familial dynamics of autism. Mo is an exceptional story of life. Love, family, war, and accountability. Would highly recommend to anyone. Although the story is closed on a beautiful heartfelt note- I would love to see another season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Alexander K TRASH - first season epic, 2nd season, i don't think the show goes more than 5 minutes without Mo crying. Way too emotional in this one. In real life, he even went and talked to Chappelle, and he cried on stage! this guy needs to take some estrogen blockers or something. We gotta toughen this kid up. and they run jokes too long, for example when he has his court hearing video link, and he won't stop complaining about his conditions he begins to ramble, but never stops, but it went too long, like ok we get the joke. Mo is a whiney lil'B in this season. Idk what happened, it's a stark difference from the first season. I will agree with the message, but there must be a better way. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review Josh C Can’t recommend Mo enough. It’s funny, earnest, heartfelt and unapologetic. It delves into extremely difficult subject matter while keeping a comedic tone, never veering into preaching or the cliches of modern messaging in movies. It reminds me of how art used to be. Tell real heartfelt stories with honesty and emotion and the message will convey. I enjoyed season one and season two is an upgrade in terms of writing and filmmaking at every level.
