Doreen St. Felix The New Yorker Much of “Paradise” is hammy as hell... Marsden and Brown are actors who know how to harness the saccharine, though, burning sugar in order to give the narrative dimension. Mar 8, 2025 Full Review Liz Shannon Miller Consequence What was most exciting about this first season of Paradise was the momentum it was able to maintain — it had big “limited series” energy, each episode playing like creator Dan Fogelman wasn’t holding anything back for a second season. Mar 4, 2025 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Sterling K. Brown is eminently watchable and a gifted actor who persuasively sells the roiling emotions inside Xavier. Feb 19, 2025 Full Review Christopher Stevens Daily Mail (UK) Although the show is from Dan Fogelman, who created the subtle and complex This Is Us, some dialogue in Paradise is bad enough to set your teeth on edge. Rated: 2/5 Aug 4, 2025 Full Review Marlon Wallace The M Report (WBOC.com) So far, it's been doing that same thing that This Is Us and ABC's Lost (2004) did by giving us flashbacks of various characters, doing mini-character studies that have been compelling. Jul 12, 2025 Full Review Rachel Ho Exclaim! While the whodunnit elements create the series' initial hook, it's the unravelling of both characters, especially Marsden's President Bradford, as complex individuals that holds the attention. Noble N I absolutely loved Paradise 2025! I’ve watched the first season three times already, that’s how good it is. The storytelling, the pacing, and the performances were all top-notch. Sterling K. Brown once again proves why he’s one of the best in the business, he delivers pure greatness every time he’s on screen. I can’t wait to see what more excitement and brilliance the next season brings! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/23/25 Full Review Matt L Paradise Season 1 really does stand out as one of the stronger new dramas in recent years. The premise feels original yet emotionally grounded, and Sterling K. Brown delivers one of his most layered performances since This Is Us. His ability to balance moral complexity with genuine vulnerability elevates the entire series. The supporting cast deserves equal praise — their chemistry and restrained tension give the show a believable, lived-in quality. The plot unfolds with a rare balance of intrigue and character study, weaving philosophical and ethical questions into a genuinely thrilling arc. Overall, it’s one of those rare first seasons that manages to be both thought-provoking and entertaining — the kind of show that reminds audiences what prestige television can still accomplish when writing, casting, and direction align perfectly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/25 Full Review S D Completely unrealistic and boring story. Stopped watching after the first episode. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/14/25 Full Review John W Problems with Paradise I watched the first episode of Paradise by myself, and it was so intriguing that I watched the second one, and then even told my wife to watch it and see what she thinks. She liked it, and so we began watching the third and fourth. This is where I started to run into some problems with the show. It has nothing to do with the way the show is presented, in a series of flashbacks often explaining character drive and relationships. I like that. My problem starts when the show starts to pull the characters into the baser instinct of the hook-up, sex, kiss, shower stuff. Wait…what? I’m supposed to believe that Xavier, who was solely chosen because of his strong moral compass. Who even turned in his own dad after a Parkinson's diagnosis, and made him quit flying is going to sleep with the psychiatrist who picked him because of his strong moral compass. I mean four episodes in, and we know that the President was sleeping with the Head of his security, Billy was sleeping with a co-worker, and now Xavier's daughter is interested in the President's son. How long until they are involved with some scene of passion hidden in some room of the library, listening to an 80’s song? Probably not too long. Also, the language has skyrocketed from a very mild episode one, into a festival of profanity with all characters now throwing around F-bombs like they are nothing. I’m sorry, I thought the show was going to be about Xavier doing what he said he was going to do in the first episode, and find the person who killed the president, but it’s not. He’s doing things, but he’s not actually doing any kind of investigating. What about when he told Billy to search the grounds and make mental notes of anything unusual. What happened to that? Did he ever ask Billy? Seems not. I have a feeling that this show is just going to evolve into a show where all the information that Xavier needs to know is just going to remain out of reach because everyone is lying to everyone. He won’t actually do any physical investigation, but simply be at the mercy of the writers as they slowly allow the show to open up into a search for the hidden info that resides in each other's brains. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/25 Full Review JoParkerBear P I was surprisingly entertained throughout the first season, but I’m not sure if I like the direction it’s headed. I’ll definitely tune in for season 2 to find out. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/25 Full Review Remi C amazing. Just amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/25 Full Review Read all reviews
