Lisa Weidenfeld Boston Globe I have a lot of affection for a show that has mastered the art of gentle cringe. And at a stressful time, it’s a tremendous relief to spend some time visiting Mavis’s version of Brooklyn. Mar 31, 2025 Full Review Tara Bennett AV Club This second season benefits from tighter scripts, a steady stream of relatable and laugh-out-loud moments, and some A-plus support from Mavis’ besties, artist Khalil (Tone Bell) and sublime boss bitch Marley (Tasha Smith). Rated: A- Mar 26, 2025 Full Review Lapacazo Magrira Sandoval New York Amsterdam News Season 2’s eight episodes are deeply satisfying, especially the finale. Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Brooke Obie Black Girl Watching The show centers fat bodies, queer bodies, Black women’s bodies and all the intersections in between, in a way we never get to see on screen. It’s a charming, quick binge that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. Apr 3, 2025 Full Review Jen Maravegias Pajiba If you want to bask in the glow of queer people of color living their lives mosturized, unbothered and looking fabulous, this is the show for you. Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider As with the first season, Survival Of The Thickest rides on the effervescent confidence of Michelle Buteau, with Mavis now knowing that she took the big swing she never did before. Jessica O Love this show. One of the better comedies I’ve seen lately. It can be over-the-top and ridiculous in the best way while hilariously highlighting the reality of what life can be like for a woman trying to survive and thrive in the city in her late 30s. Also love the writing and chemistry between the cast members. Season 3 better be coming! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Stephen C Fantastic show. I've never felt so many different emotions watching anything else. It's funny. It's beautiful. It's real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Miss I I love this show so much! It's refreshing! It's funny, I love the characters. One of my favorite series! No apology for anything, and we're here for it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Peter K Hilarious, well-written beautifully filmed and a surprise ending to-boot! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review Mary Anne H Mavis has a cute personality but just not funny and storyline doesn’t go anywhere and is not interesting.
