Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

While there are moments when The Rings of Power loses some of its steam, the vital setup for the series’ future becomes a necessary evil. At the same time, plenty of moments appeal to the spectacle in Tolkien’s vision.

Though having a little too much exposition, showrunners John D. Payne and Patrick McKay pull out all the stops in this new Tolkienian saga, armed with some spectacular visuals and arresting performances.

There are the beginnings of a great show here. If only, like the heroes in the epic story it tells, the series can shoulder the burdens a little while longer.

Poor, forced writing, that at times seems written in a board room than a writers room hamper this show. Some acting performances are convincing, others are so contrived or forced it throws off enjoyment. The "big reveal" is hardly a reveal at all as it was telegraphed by the clunky writing.

A great origin story for the character of Sauron and how he became the scary lord we see in Peter Jackson’s trilogy.

It's was really good, the music the actors , you can see the effort of the production to make it good.

I absolutely love the Lord of the Rings movies......the rings of power completely disregards the original material and it is not better for it. The characters are so unlikable. I wanted to enjoy this......I really did. I gave it 2 seasons......it got worse....somehow.

Thoughtless and bad fanfiction made into a TV series, I don't even know where the budget went, but it does not look good. Also, Galadriel who is 3000-5000 years old acts like a spoiled brat
