Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

While there are moments when The Rings of Power loses some of its steam, the vital setup for the series’ future becomes a necessary evil. At the same time, plenty of moments appeal to the spectacle in Tolkien’s vision.

I'm an avid fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, books, the Simlarillion, all things Tolkien! Do yourself a favor, ignore the hate and watch this series! The production value is exceptional, rivaling the Peter Jackson films. The acting is powerful, expanding on the internal conflicts of some of your favorite characters. The storytelling is vibrant, delving into little-known events of the Second Age and filling them out cinematically. This show often gets hatred for what some consider departures from the established LotR cannon, but I entirely disagree, I feel it's entirely connected to the diverse representation among the cast. If you're looking for a complaint, they dramatically condensed the Second Age timeline to fit them into a single human character lifetime. As a reader of the books I feel they did an exceptional job of honoring the established cannon of the First and Third Ages, while capturing the stories and major events of the Second Age in a fresh and exciting way.

Visually stunning, epic soundtrack and incredible acting from all. It’s beautiful what they have been able to achieve. Ignore the "Tolkien Purists", The Silmarillion could never be adapted for TV in its purest form, and they fail to comprehend the negotiations for the rights from the Tolkien estate and the compromise required to allow an immense story to be delivered. If they had read The Silmarillion, they would understand the erratic timelines and blurring of details themselves. It is slow to begin with, but worth sticking through. Thousands of years worth of history is being told over a series, so bear in mind this just isn’t possible in translating to the screen.

This is a joke of a series, joke to the source material, really lame story, if they wanted they could make a similar series but leaving "Lord of the rings setting" out of it and focus on a completely different fantasy world. Don't watch ever.
