Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings -- until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.

Michael Hogan Daily Telegraph (UK) The Night Agent has become a victim of its own success. A pale imitation of itself, phoning it in. Rated: 2/5 Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Nina Metz Chicago Tribune Tellingly, the show doesn’t want to grapple with the way Peter’s hero complex has dulled his humanity. Rated: 2/4 Jan 24, 2025 Full Review Kelly Lawler USA Today Season 2 is a little messier, a little more self-serious and at times slower than the satisfying first go-round, but "Night Agent" still delivers. Rated: 3/4 Jan 24, 2025 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com Almost as good as the first season and that says a lot. Rated: 6/10 Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) The show continues to suffer from implausibilities and the need for continual suspension of disbelief, but it also provides an entertaining and fun escape, even if you may roll your eyes a bunch. Rated: 3/5 Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba The dialogue is clunky, the character development nonexistent, and the chemistry between Basso and Buchanan is less than spit. The whole thing feels like watching a 10-hour video game cutscene with vaguely lifelike NPCs. Jan 28, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Paul R The audience definitely got this right. I have no idea what the critics were watching but it certainly wasn't this trainwreck of a season. It was completely unrealistic and unbelievable from start to finish and Rose was an insufferable flip flopper with very annoying lines. I will not be watching season 3. It's sad because they destroyed a decent premise. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Shelley S The story is good, most of the characters are good...but Rose, good heavens, Rose. The character of Rose (nothing wrong with the actress) is written all over the place. She imposes herself into a situation...then becomes childish when she blames everyone else for "forcing" her to do something she doesn't feel good about. Then she is going home (yes, please)...she says she wants protection when she returns home, right before she heads out by herself to speak to someone to get info on the situation they are in...and she ultimately takes on heavily armed bad guys pretty much on her own They didn't write a story around who the character of Rose is...they wrote a story and they have Rose be/do whatever fits the story they want to tell...even if her behavior in one scene is nonsensical with the next thing they have her do Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Alex D The series was great, BUT, Rose is one of the MOST annoying characters I have ever had to endure in a series. I can't count how many times I wished she would have caught a live hand grenade or fell off a building! While I am sure this actress is a wonderful person, the dread that surfaced in my soul when Rose entered the scene neither qualitatively nor quantitatively could be measured. I wish the actress much success in life, but with the help of all that is good and positive in this universe, I hope to never see Rose in this series again. I did write this to sound triggered and helpless, as I hope the producers or someone involved in this project understand the severely negative impact Rose had on this series. I had to remove two stars from my review, and I am signed up for psychotherapeutic sessions starting three times a week, with inpatient treatment a possible course of treatment, pending results of EMDR therapy. Other than that, this is a FANTASTIC series!!!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Matt A The Night Agent season 2 takes a small step up in story, but that’s about it. The characters remain frustratingly weak, constantly making dumb decisions that drain any tension the plot tries to build. And don’t even get me started on Rose—she’s easily the worst part of the show. If she isn’t left behind for season 3, she might singlehandedly ruin the entire series. It’s beyond me why Netflix rushed the wrong show. The Recruit is the one they should be investing in, not this watered-down, dumbed-down television made for an audience that doesn’t demand better. The Night Agent had one lucky season, but season 2 proves it was never built to last. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Joost E Equal or even slightly better than the first season. Liked how the seperate storylines came together after a few episodes. Good action and very bingeable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Nikolay M Such a cliche'd and unbelievable plot, it totally ruins the original idea and relatively good acting from moat of the cast.
