Nathan Fielder returns to television to explore the lengths one person will go to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life. Fielder stars as the director of rehearsals, which are elaborately staged scenarios re-creating parts of ordinary people's lives that are meant to help them prepare for a big moment in their lives. A construction crew, a legion of actors and seemingly unlimited resources all come together to allow ordinary people to rehearse for these moments by giving them the opportunity to play them out in carefully crafted simulations of Fielder's own design.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Never fear, Nathan Fielder is here to solve air travel safety and further his frustrated quest for human connection in a second Rehearsal that's just as audacious, cringey, and uproariously funny as the first.

Gideon Lewis-Kraus The New Yorker What the show ultimately stages is an unsentimental rejection of the entire edifice of authenticity, and the cult of identity it inspires. Jun 2, 2025 Full Review Chris Bennion Daily Telegraph (UK) What makes this series an improvement on the first is that it is consistently and deliberately laugh-out-loud funny. Rated: 5/5 May 29, 2025 Full Review Lili Loofbourow Washington Post “The Rehearsal” develops into a sideways anthropological treatise on pilots, who turn out to be a reserved and lonely bunch. May 28, 2025 Full Review Ernesto Diezmartinez Letras Libres In the elaborate sets he designs for his series The Rehearsal, Nathan Fielder elicits truths about human relationships and the ways we trust and deceive ourselves. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/4 Jun 18, 2025 Full Review Ann Marie Hourihane Irish Independent You could say that season two of The Rehearsal (Sky Atlantic) has everything. The question is, do we want everything? Flight simulators, cloned dogs, a congressional subcommittee, fake airport concourses and a singing competition...It’s a lot. Jun 6, 2025 Full Review Julianna Ress The Ringer Sure, there’s a trade-off for slightly fewer jokes, but The Rehearsal is still damn funny, and it feels worth it to allow that space for Fielder to operate on galaxy-brain levels we haven’t seen since Andy Kaufman. Sarthi S The Rehearsal season two is Nathan Fielder once again defying all expectations, delivering not just his most ambitious work to date, but potentially the finest season of television he’s ever produced. Initially met with curiosity and skepticism due to its surprising focus on aviation safety, season two quickly reveals itself to be a masterclass in tonal balance, merging genuine public serve with sharp, surreal comedy. What unfolds is a consistently inventire six-episode run that veers from the outlandishly bizzare to the profoundly emotional. Every week, you’ll be tuning in to watch a masterpiece, and the finale will go down as arguably the greatest episode of television ever produced. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/21/25 Full Review Sean M There's a lot of amazing TV out there, but I think The Rehearsal might be the most insane thing you can watch. It's almost unexplainable, just watch it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/25 Full Review Roy S So funny. Not sure how he comes up with this stuff Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/12/25 Full Review Lara D With so much blatant egotism and "aren't I the clever one" behavior from almost everyone you encounter these days, I admit I was hoping this would be a sort of tongue in cheek antidote to that, but I was duped. At first it seemed like the general plot was "wily, manipulative comedian appears to be exploiting the trust of his subjects, then has a Grinch in Whoville moment and grows an actual heart." Instead it is a sociopathic ego-fest with Nathan stealing every plot point, every revelation of the subject and pretending it is his own, and I'm supposed to think he is clever and not a brazen narcissist. Got through two episodes and gave up due to malaise and a sleazy Nathan rash that will probably never go away. Ended up watching Hacks instead - at least their lead narcissist is one of the greatest television actresses we have today, and there is tremendous love and redemption between Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels! (Very telling that Nathan was a magician as a teenager - still playing sleight of hand mind games with innocent, trusting people!) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/11/25 Full Review Dim S How in the world this boring crap got such a high ratings? Beats me... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Stephen C 6 funny episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
