132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world's most famous mansion.

The Residence situates itself in the White House for a lighthearted murder mystery that won't tax the brain, but Uzo Aduba's eccentric sleuth brings a welcome level of sophistication to proceedings.

Graeme Blundell The Australian The Residence is a delightful, sometimes breathless romp, despite a few longueurs along its somewhat frantic journey... Apr 21, 2025 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Flicks (AU, NZ, UK) What Knives Out owes implicitly to Agatha Christie or The Last of Sheila, The Residence would rather point out explicitly. Apr 3, 2025 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News If cozy mysteries featuring a kooky but likable ace detective are your cup of tea, you’ll thoroughly enjoy Cupp and company. Rated: 3/4 Mar 27, 2025 Full Review Sarah Knight Adamson Sarah's Backstage Pass I truly believe a star has been born in the Netflix TV-MA rated series “The Residence” starring Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp a consultant with the Metropolitan Police Department! Rated: 4/4 May 5, 2025 Full Review Neely Swanson Beverly Hills Courier At eight episodes, it’s two episodes too long. Nevertheless, this is pure pleasure and lots of fun. Each actor, no matter how small the role, is a standout. Apr 22, 2025 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked I assume producers only decided it was a comedy after they had made it; otherwise, I can’t explain why there aren’t any jokes. Gene O I found The Residence to be more that a little bit boring. Too many of the characters were annoying, scenes where they were talking, more like ranting, went on way to long. Its probably just me but it seemed like some of the actors were so enamored with the character that they were playing that they over acted in every scene they were in. The Residence is no Knives Out and not my cup 'o tea! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/07/25 Full Review Stefan P If you ever want to hate some perfectly good actors, hate the entire mystery genre, and hate yourself for watching, by all means check out The Residence. The final hour and a half long nonstop, drivel-filled denoument alone will make you loath reality itself. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Irsa K I like how long dragged it was. Full of actual plot twists and surprises. Loved the acting and the way it was filmed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Nicole Y Took a bit to get there but the writers had to a lot of pipe. Then it became a delightful whodunit! Awesome cast too, love Jane Curtain!! I’m sure it’ll get some kinda nod come awards season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Molly P Very fun "American" whodunit! We don't have many old manor houses or brilliant little old ladies/self absorbed but genius Belgians...and so the setting of the White House and the bird watching, eccentric detective were familiar but also refreshing! More please Netflix. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Dominika J I started watching this a while on a trip in Hawaii because it reminded me of my mom and her never-ending love of Agatha Christie... And it was so funny and rewarding and full of intriguing characters and yes very much Agatha Christie but the lead actress is phenomenal and her supporting cast are intriguing as well... The neurotic obsession with birding is also highly entertaining for me Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Read all reviews
