t S @tsoble 6d I never would have made it to the end of the first episode if this wasn't White Lotus. I loved the first season and unbelievably the second season even more. This season, what can you say, it took everything that made the first two seasons enjoyable and threw that out the window. Now, seasons one and two had their own differences, season one, in six episodes moved briskly and efficiently whereas season two, adding an episode, took its time but never ever dragged, building up tension across all the storylines and paid out the viewer's commitment in the finale. But here in season three, the acerbic dialogue and increasing tension with which we became accustomed fell fallow with anemic characters delivering uninspired lines. Goggins and Isaacs both skulked around for episodes on end straining the viewers capacity to remain engaged to what amounted to jejune and underdeleloped storytelling. It does feel different from the first two seasons: less openly funny, more serious, slower, and more interested in pain, emptiness, and emotional discomfort than in constant satirical sting. That shift won’t work for everyone, and at times the show does seem to revisit familiar territory. Even so, the cast is strong again, Thailand gives the season a gorgeous yet uneasy atmosphere, and Mike White still knows how to let ugly people reveal themselves in fascinating ways. It may be less sharp and less playful than Hawaii or Sicily, but it remains compelling, stylish, and more substantial than its harshest critics claimed. See more Nalaya C @Nalaya Mar 22 Love it. The cast performance went down compared to past, the story is nothing short of predictable and the characters are shallow and don’t reslly show the depth they got us used to in seasons 1 and 2 (maybe with some exceptions for episodic characters, such as the expat thai lady lover - but those are not enough to save the whole series). Now- I don't know the last time I actually was so "icked" I had to get up and walk around for a minute, but this season did it. Watch it, there's no questioning which plot line it is The Valium, the missing pistol, the Muay Thai, the impending collapse of a family, and MF WALTON GOGGINS 🤘🏼❤️ Sam Rockwell as Frank might well be the best cameo appearance I've seen in decades.
