I am such a huge fan of this Series, and especially Geraldine McEwan who is the quintessential Jane Marple to me. However, I have to agree with the Reviewers critiques how about the flaws in this particular Episode. I just see it as a weaker element in a very strong passion. See more Elli J @Catnap1953 Dec 13 Being a huge fan of the Suchet/Poirot and Miss Marple adaptations, I was shocked at how poorly this particular version of Ms. Christie's story was executed. The acting, writing and production were just not believable or worthy of her writing. The main gripe I have is that so much of the content, from costumes (dresses that were more Picasso or Dali than actual fashion from the period), to details like the nails that 'Kay' daughter splayed - right out of a 21st-century nail bar catalogue. The constant use of the 'f' word by both men and women was really uncalled for and obviously would never have been used by Ms. Christie. The whole thing was over-the-top, especially the characters, crass, dragged on too long, and was a mash-up of then and now in terms of dialogue and behaviours. What an insult to both Christie and her fans who deserve better. A real disappointment and frankly, a bomb. The collection of characters is uninteresting with none of them worth sympathising with, the most annoying being the tennis player and his two 'wives' and the dodgy arab from the hotel.
