What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tulsa King's stale comedy sometimes feels like ordering spaghetti with marinara and instead getting egg noodles and ketchup, but Sylvester Stallone still commands the screen with his swaggering charm.

Nick Schager The Daily Beast Sheridan’s latest is less grim and brooding than corny and amusing—a shift that suits Stallone. Jan 30, 2023 Full Review Ben Dowell Times (UK) In between moments of somewhat cartoonish violence, Sly’s wisecracking about a world that is unfamiliar in just about every way imaginable allows this to tick along nicely. Nov 18, 2022 Full Review Liz Shannon Miller Consequence The biggest question mark hovering over Tulsa King at this point is how deep and dark it's capable of going, and whether Stallone might be pushed outside his comfort zone into some truly vulnerable territory. Rated: B Nov 18, 2022 Full Review Ezequiel Boetti Otroscines.com Once again Taylor Sheridan reimagines classic genres to deliver a detective story full of humor and self-awareness. Benjamin H Sylvester Stallone kills it in the role as Dwight Manfredi and provides a lot in an otherwise gripping, consistent and well-rounded season of television that builds tension and its characters in a graceful way. There are a few segments in its story that could have been refined as well as some predictable aspects to it, but this was nevertheless such a fun watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/18/24 Full Review Azan K bedt of all time one of the greates Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review W R A Fun and ridiculous action episodic if you don't think about anything for more than 30 seconds. It's basically "Banshee" or "Reacher" with Stallone in Tulsa. Tough guy with a past arrives in a small town and things happen. The writing isn't ground breaking. Not sure why everyone praises Sheridan for crapping out mediocre shows in bulk. This one is OK, but it has been done a million times before and better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Joe L I really enjoyed season 1 of Tulsa King. I was apprehensive about how Stallone would play out, but I was impressed. This season does set the stall for an even better season 2 (which I have now watched) and I do feel there is more to come. It’s a mix between Getty gangster, humour (in the way they deliver their power) and a generalised story which you’re able to follow throughout the season. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Emiliano B Incredible, funny, no-woke! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Jake T How on earth did this show get made? The entire premise is "Sly Stallone is a mafia capo...in....TuLSa oKLaHOmA???!!?!?" As with any Sheridan production, the show is insanely unrealistic. Stallone goes around just...violently assaulting innocent people, demanding protection money from a legal dispensary, etc. No one fights back, calls the cops, etc. They just go with it. Super dumb.
