Judy Berman TIME Magazine What it lacks, as a work of art (it would be grotesque to call it a work of entertainment), is the level of insight that might justify putting us through eight hours’ worth of human misery. Apr 4, 2024 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times Even the moderately well-informed viewer is bound to learn a few things, but "We Were the Lucky Ones" isn't a history lesson. It's a human story, of husbands and wives, parents and children, friends and lovers... Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Aramide Tinubu Variety Devastating, and profoundly moving, We Were the Lucky Ones illustrates the scope of World War II, the inhumanity of others and the anguish of disconnection and loss. Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media Like any Holocaust story, We Were the Lucky Ones shows unspeakable evil and painful losses, but the miniseries manages to overshadow this with hope and heart. May 15, 2024 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL The show's makers force the actors to speak in English with a distracting Mitteleuropean accent. It's always a dumb idea — the equivalent of making actors speak their lines around the equivalent of false teeth. May 6, 2024 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz It’s understated, introspective and thought-provoking drama that’s well worth seeking out. Apr 28, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

nicole m I loved this show! It was powerful and moving with a strong female lead! The acting was great and the story was very well written. I give it 10 out of 10!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review peter g its a good show, one issue, the nazis are WAY TOO NICE in this flick, its almost insulting, its like a nazi wrote the storu, idk, great show, but odd head scratching actions by the nazis, the jewish actors are excellent!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review JM M Excellent miniseries, and based on real life events. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/24 Full Review Paolo C Boilerplate holocaust drama, reducing the horrors of genocide to genre-bound cliches. But what makes this particular series not just boring but cringe-inducing is the way it wallows in saccharine, family-drama sentamentality--along with a complete lack of complexity in any of its characters. Instead of exploring how real people suffered through the evils of Nazi persecution, we're presented with morally flawless, oh-so adorable caricatures of domestic perfection, nearly impossible to identify with. I imagine many reviewers just leave an obligatory 5 star rating and forget the show ever existed. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Martin H We Were the Lucky Ones is a moving reminder of the unimaginable horrors of the holocaust, and at the same time, a beautiful story of a family that miraculously managed to survive it. In no other time would people who experienced such brutality and evil be described as lucky. It is not easy to watch, but it is a chapter that needs to be told and retold in the hope that successive generations will recognize and stand up against hate and its consequences. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/08/24 Full Review sean G Wow, what a well made and moving story 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/07/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
