You wisely wraps things up just before Joe Goldberg's murderous machinations become stale, delivering a final season that ought to satisfy most viewers' morbid curiosity.

Saloni Gajjar AV Club You's final season is sadly drawn-out and confounding. While Penn Badgley is still terrifyingly great at playing a menace, and he’s joined by a captivating Madeline Brewer this time around, the show struggles to stick its (predictable) landing. Rated: C+ May 6, 2025 Full Review Eric Deggans NPR This show always offers compelling twists, lending a few surprises to a storyline which is otherwise kind of predictable and a little overwrought -- to say nothing of the whole "making viewers root for a serial killer" thing. May 1, 2025 Full Review Cristina Escobar RogerEbert.com The show sees and names our guilt, giving us perhaps a better ending than we deserve. Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Mini Anthikad-Chhibber The Hindu Bibliophile serial killer, Joe Goldberg’s triumphant return to the Big Apple is marred by old and new threats in the ludicrous final season May 16, 2025 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network Fans will have their own take on whether they like how You closes out, but I appreciate the commitment to telling this story in a way that is bold and unexpected. Rated: 7/10 May 13, 2025 Full Review Aglaia Berlutti Hipertextual The fifth season of one of Netflix's most popular series, brings its story to an end. Audience Member Season 5 was a poor way to wrap up the twisted-hero we've been following all these years. A boring, cruel attempt at placating "the good must prevail" viewers who MORE OFTEN THAN NOT get what they want. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/20/25 Full Review Chiranjibi D YOU Season 5 is like watching your favorite killer lose his edge. Kate, once a cold, calculated powerhouse, now feels like a watered-down extra. In Season 4, she was sharp, assertive, emotionally guarded yet strong; someone who could match or even outmaneuver Joe in moments. In Season 5, though, it’s like they dulled her down, made her oddly passive, and stripped away that icy control and intelligence. She barely felt like the same woman. And Brontë? Easily the most lifeless character in the entire series; zero depth, brought no weight or meaning to the story, just a hollow distraction who sucked the life out of every scene she touched. The plot loops in circles, characters act dumber, and the tension? Gone. A weak, soulless sendoff to a show that used to be razor-sharp. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/20/25 Full Review Kathy & Bob J There are a lot of twists in this season with a perfectly satisfying ending! Loved the final Joe quote! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Audience Member First let me say that it's difficult for shows to have endings that please everyone and some are def terrible with no thought or rushed. I am very critical of shows and have seen most of the best out there but I LOVED this season !!! Why are people hating!? what do they expect since there's only so many ways to end this kind of show! Acting was superb ✓twists ✓seeing Joe in situations where he really had to think and be creative✓ I loved every episode and only got annoyed when Marianne showed up. She's my only complaint with all her stupid piercings and terrible acting. Bronte was awesome and fantastic background and ability to fool Joe. And Kate and the Twins were fantastic as well. It was pretty awesome. 2 👍👍 up Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Sinead K I don't get why this has such a low rating. Best season since the first, with lots of twists and turns. Wasn't sure about some of the closing moments but I actually liked the overall ending. Quite the reckoning. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Saruh Jane L I have to just pretend it ended with season 4 for my own sanity. Season 5's WRITERS WERE IDIOTS and it SHOWS they should have ended it when the talent left. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Read all reviews
