You wisely wraps things up just before Joe Goldberg's murderous machinations become stale, delivering a final season that ought to satisfy most viewers' morbid curiosity.

Saloni Gajjar AV Club You's final season is sadly drawn-out and confounding. While Penn Badgley is still terrifyingly great at playing a menace, and he’s joined by a captivating Madeline Brewer this time around, the show struggles to stick its (predictable) landing. Rated: C+ May 6, 2025 Full Review Eric Deggans NPR This show always offers compelling twists, lending a few surprises to a storyline which is otherwise kind of predictable and a little overwrought -- to say nothing of the whole "making viewers root for a serial killer" thing. May 1, 2025 Full Review Cristina Escobar RogerEbert.com The show sees and names our guilt, giving us perhaps a better ending than we deserve. Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Srijoni Rudra Digital Mafia Talkies The season would have been quite compelling if the survivors’ perspective was explored in six hour-long episodes. But the need to constantly shock the audience with new twists and turns diluted the script. Jul 26, 2025 Full Review Abby Monteil The Daily Beast If You Season 5 has a fatal flaw, it’s how muddled the show has allowed its satire to become. Joe’s kills have grown increasingly sloppy, but across the first three seasons, its sharp social satire never wavered. Jun 11, 2025 Full Review Sharai Bohannon Anatomy of a Scream Podcast Network The final season of 'You' is still surprisingly addictive, frustrating, and interesting as most seasons of the series. Anna Camp does a lot of heavy lifting, but Penn Badgley is locked in again and what a sight to be behold. May 23, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Kers t Mild spoiler alert. I remember really enjoying the first couple of seasons of You. The premise is similar to Dexter - get your audience to root for a criminal psychopath who appears to have enough complexity and redeeming qualities to make him somewhat acceptable. I always thought Penn Badgley was well cast in this and brought Joe to life really well. In this last season they seem to abandon everything that made the previous instalments enjoyable. The always black humour is almost non existent. It all descends into a sort of bitter battle of the sexes. The Succesion like insert with the siblings fighting over control of the company is weird and seems to belong into a different story. Brontë is an odd character - not really convincing with the many reveals of her true motives and motivations. And the ending - oh dear! It’s like the writers suddenly got scared of their own courage to put such a questionable premise out there in the first place. Joe gets destroyed and diminished. It’s very sad. Penn Badgley seems to feel the same way - watch him in interviews. He remains professional, but he’s so done with it. Him, Joe and the audience - we all deserved better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/25 Full Review Emerson M Essa temporada inteira (não só o final) foi a pior coisa que eu vi na vida, e olha que a quarta temporada já foi ruim de doer. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/25 Full Review Kate M The final season asks us to suspend all sense of reality and satisfaction. A disappointing and lazy attempt at drawing a very promising characters story to a close. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review Hannah T Absolutely disgusting ending - absolutely abysmal and ruined the show completely for me. Utter disappointment; such a shame but would not reccomended!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review Jeremy K Incredibly stupid. The first two seasons were fun and well done. This show has gotten worse each successive season. This one takes the cake though. The writing and story were atrocious. Characters acting in ways that made no sense. Trope upon trope upon trope. Just incredibly stupid. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Dominic D. I loved all 5 seasons of this series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Read all reviews
