When it is announced that a comet is on a collision course with Earth, unexpected and hilarious events take place during the last days of humanity. Amid all the chaos, a diverse group of seemingly unconnected characters start to intersect in unanticipated ways. These characters include a rebellious and foul-mouthed priest (Rob Lowe), a librarian (Jenna Fischer) who is sent to maximum security prison for a crime she didn't commit, and a bank manager (Mathew Baynton) who goes on a quest to find his wife, who mysteriously disappeared seven years ago.
