Al Hirt was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Hirt began his acting career by debuting in films like "Rome Adventure" (1962) with Troy Donahue and Angie Dickinson and "Number One" (1969) with Charlton Heston. He worked in series television while getting his start in acting, including a part on "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" (NBC, 1970-71). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "The Manhunter" (NBC, 1975-76). He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "The Bob Hope Show (03/07/73)" (NBC, 1972-73) and "A Jazz Session -- Sass & Brass" (Cinemax, 1986-87). Hirt's music was most recently featured in "Brown Sugar" (2002) with Taye Diggs. He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "Touched By an Angel" (CBS, 1994-2003). Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "Jacksonville Jazz Festival VIII" (PBS, 1987-88) and "A New Orleans Jazz Brunch: A Great Chefs Special" (PBS, 1992-93).
