Alexandre Jardin
In addition to being a highly sought-after French author, Alexandre Jardin has also created a credible career for himself as a filmmaker, having written and directed several movies during his career. The son of screenwriter Pascal Jardin, Alexandre was born in 1965 and wrote his first novel, "Ball Head," at the age of just 20. He has been responsible for a string of works since then, the most famous of which is his novel "The Zebra," the story of an eccentric man who goes to extreme lengths to test his wife's love for him. As well as winning the prestigious Prix Femina prize, it was also made into a movie in 1992 starring Thierry Lhermitte. Jardin has also written and directed three films, the most notable of which was 1993's "Fanfan," which starred Sophie Marceau and Vincent Perez and told the story of a married man who suffers from a case of unrequited love. Although his work has generally been light and frivolous, much of it poking gentle fun at his family, the author hit the headlines for his 2011 novel "Very Nice People" in which he took serious aim at his late grandfather, Jean Jardin, claiming he had Nazi connections.
