Anne Émond
Born in 1982, Canadian director Anne Émond began her career directing the short film "Sophie Lavoie" (2010). Her debut feature, "Nuit #1," premiered in 2012. The film follows two young people, Clara and Nikolai who spend a night together after meeting at a rave. The film was very well received, and won the Claude Jutra award for best feature film by a first time director at the 2012 Genie Awards. Émond released her second feature film, "Our Loved Ones," in 2015. The drama follows the story of a family coping with the mysterious death of its patriarch. It was shot in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, which is also Émond's home territory, as well as Montreal and Barcelona. The film had its premiere in August of 2015, at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, and was acquired by Paris-based sales-production house Wide for international distribution.
