Basil Dignam
Basil Dignam was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Dignam's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as "Touch and Go" (1955), the drama "Carrington V.C." (1955) with David Niven and the Richard Attenborough comedy "Private's Progress" (1956). He also appeared in the Richard Basehart mystery thriller "Finger of Guilt" (1956), "Brothers in Law" (1957) and the drama "A Cry From the Streets" (1958) with Max Bygraves. He continued to act in productions like the comedy "Man in a Cocked Hat" (1960) with Terry-Thomas, the comedy "I'm All Right Jack" (1960) with Peter Sellers and "The Risk" (1961). He also appeared in the Bill Travers sci-fi feature "Gorgo" (1961). In the latter half of his career, he continued to act in the thriller "Twisted Nerve" (1969) with Hayley Mills, the Nicol Williamson dramatic adaptation "Laughter in the Dark" (1969) and the sports drama "The Games" (1970) with Michael Crawford. He also appeared in the Richard Attenborough crime picture "10 Rillington Place" (1970) and "The Great White Hope" (1970) with James Earl Jones. Dignam last acted in the Simon Ward biopic "Young Winston" (1972). Dignam passed away in January 1979 at the age of 74.
