Webster began his career with roles in "Downhill" (1927) and the Ronald Colman adventure "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1937). He went on to act in the drama "Forever and a Day" (1943) with Anthony Collins and the drama "Lassie Come Home" (1943) with Roddy McDowall. Later in his career, Webster appeared on "A Duke Named Ellington" (PBS, 1987-88).
