Benoît McGinnis
Tackling both light comedies and serious dramas with ease helped establish Benoît McGinnis as one of the most prolific actors on Canadian television and film. A 2001 graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, McGinnis launched his acting career in his native country by performing on stage and guest starring on several television shows, including the comedy series "Les Bougon: C'est aussi ça la vie" ("The Bougons: This is Also Life") CBS, 2004-06) and the musical drama "Félix Leclerc" (Radio Canada, 2005). He then had a recurring part on the comedy series "Vice caché" (Réseau TV, 2005-06), followed by a regular role on the hit comedy drama "Les hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin" ("The Highs and Lows of Sophie Paquin") (Radio Canada, 2006), about a single mother who runs her own talent agency. In 2008, McGinnis starred in Sébastian Rose's critically acclaimed drama "Le banquet" (2008), where he delivered a searing performance as an uninvited guest to a student protest who has his own radical solutions to ending the standoff. The role earned him a nomination for a Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role the following year. He also had a featured role in Xavier Dolan's love story "Les amours imaginaires" ("Heartbeats") (2010), and was a regular on the television drama "Trauma" (Société Radio-Canada, 2010- ).
