      Actor Bill Dean was widely known for his presence on the silver screen. Dean's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as the comedy "Praise Marx and Pass the Ammunition" (1968) with John Thaw, the dramatic adaptation "Kes" (1970) with Lynne Perrie and "Family Life" (1971). He also appeared in "Gumshoe" (1972). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the seventies and the eighties, appearing in the Elizabeth Taylor thrilling adaptation "Night Watch" (1973), the Derek Martin crime picture "Law & Order" (1978) and "Scum" (1979) with Ray Winstone. He also appeared in "Rising Damp" (1980). Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in "Slayground" (1984) and the drama "Priest" (1995) with Linus Roache. He also was featured in the TV movie "Oliver Twist" (CBS, 1981-82). Dean most recently worked on "Cincinnati May Festival: Carmina Burana and Chichester Psalms" (PBS, 2000-01).
