Brandon Flowers guided stadium rockers The Killers to world-conquering fame before launching a solo career which further cemented his status as one of his generation's most stylish frontmen. Born in Henderson, NV in 1981, Flowers relocated with his parents and six siblings to Utah aged eight before moving back to his hometown in his late teens, going onto play keyboards in synth-pop outfit Blush Response while also working as a bellhop. In 2001, he made the leap to lead vocalist when he joined guitarist Dave Keuning, bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. to form The Killers. The group spearheaded the indie-rock boom of the mid-00s with their debut album Hot Fuss, before moving into Bruce Springsteen-esque heartland rock territory on 2006 follow-up Sam's Town. By the time of 2008's Day and Age, The Killers were challenging the likes of U2 and Coldplay for the title of world's biggest band, largely thanks to Flowers' natural showmanship and hook-laden songwriting talents. Flowers then used the group's hiatus as an opportunity to embark on a solo career, scoring a hit single with "Crossfire," the video for which saw him star opposite Oscar winner Charlize Theron, and a US Top 10 entry with parent album, Flamingo. After returning to his day job for 2012's Battle Born and a 2013 hits compilation, Flowers revived his solo career in 2015 with The Desired Effect, a more adventurous second solo effort in which he explored his love of 80s synth-pop.
