Although most famous for playing a series of comedy roles, Camille Coduri's screen debut was in the gritty IRA drama "A Prayer for the Dying" (1987) starring Mickey Rourke and Bob Hoskins. It's also the first time she worked with her future husband, fellow actor Christopher Fulford, who she would marry in 1992. After various roles on the big and small screen she played the love interest in cross-dressing comedy crime caper "Nuns on the Run" (1990), a modest hit on both sides of the Atlantic, followed by a similar role in the John Goodman vehicle "King Ralph" (1991). This exposure led to a variety of TV credits in the U.K., often playing up her ditzy blonde persona, including recurring roles in "Rumpole of the Bailey" (ITV 1975-1992), "Nelson's Column" (BBC 1994-95) and "Family" (ITV 2003). 2005 saw her cast in the relaunch of sci-fi adventure "Doctor Who" (BBC 2005-) playing Jackie Tyler, the mother of the Doctor's companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper). She seemed to spend most her time bamboozled and confused by her daughter's adventures through time and space. She even went onto win the special "Doctor Who" themed episode of game show favorite "The Weakest Link" (BBC 2000-2012). The show had such a massive fanbase that it led to even more TV work in the UK including six episodes of "Synchronicity" (BBC 2006), "Agatha Christie's Marple" (ITV 2004- ), and period drama "Lark Rise to Candleford" (BBC 2008-2011). Coduri also continued to work in film, including roles in "Adulthood" (2008) and "4.3.2.1" (2010), both written and directed by her "Doctor Who" co-star Noel Clarke, before landing the recurring role of Shelly in sitcom "Him & Her" (BBC 2010-2013).
