Charley Koontz

Born in 1987 in Concord, California, Charlie Koontz began acting in his high school drama productions, but didn't really catch the acting bug until college at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He graduated with a degree in Theater Arts. His first major exposure came in the independent film "Rubber" (2010), directed by Quentin Dupieux. The film, an existential dramedy which follows the exploits of a tire, premiered at Cannes and went on to earn a brief domestic theatrical release and a cult following. Koontz made a number of guest appearances on TV series including "Gigantic" (TeenNick, 2010-11) and "Royal Pains" (USA, 2009- ), and also appeared in Dupieux's next film, "Wrong" (2011). In 2011, he made his first appearance as Fat Neil on season 2 of "Community" (NBC, 2009-2014; Yahoo, 2015). The character was initially just referred to in dialogue by other characters, but eventually became a recurring character on the show, evolving from Fat Neil to Real Neil with Pipes of Steel, and beyond. Koontz's first series regular role was on the "CSI" (CBS, 2000- ) spinoff "CSI: Cyber" (CBS, 2015-). On the show, he played good-guy hacker Daniel "Krummy" Krumitz, part of Special Agent Avery Ryan's (Patricia Arquette) team of cyber warriors who help the FBI solve internet-related crimes.
