Constance Wu

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Asian-American actress Constance Wu began her foray into dramatic studies by honing her craft in the local theater scene. Wu moved to New York at the still-tender age of 16 and attended the legendary Lee Strasberg Institute, where she received classical theatrical training. In the years that followed, Wu made the swift and easy transition to film work, and built a fine reputation early on for essaying distinguished supporting roles in dramas. During this time, she placed a particularly strong though not exclusive emphasis on independent features and television. Early assignments included turns in the motion pictures "Stephanie Daley" (2006), co-starring Tilda Swinton and Amber Tamblyn, and "Sound of My Voice" (2011), alongside Christopher Denham and Brit Marling; a recurring part as Laudine Lee on the soap opera "One Life to Live" (ABC 1968-2012) in 2007; and a guest spot on the ambitious sci-fi drama Torchwood (BBC 2006-2011) in 2011. Wu next starred in the situation comedy "Fresh off the Boat" (ABC 2015- ), portraying a Taiwanese mother who moves with her family to Orlando, Florida in the 1990s and must contend with extreme culture shock.
