With an outstanding career in Hollywood starting in the 1960s, David Davis has brought the world some of the most beloved sitcoms ever to air on television. After producing some unsold sitcoms in the mid-1960s, he truly started his career as an associate producer on such '60s fare as "My Mother the Car" and "Get Smart." Davis later became a writer on the decade-defining hit "Mary Tyler Moore" in 1970, on which he was also a full producer. After this he went to work on the classic sitcom "The Bob Newhart Show" and the "Mary Tyler Moore" spin-off, "Rhoda" which co-starred Julie Kavner; Davis and Kavner began dating in 1976 and remained a couple until his death. His work on the show won him many accolades and several award nominations. He collaborated with renowned producer James L. Brooks on several of these shows, and the two had another hit in the late 1970s with the multiple star-making sitcom "Taxi." On top of producing the show, Davis wrote many episodes of the Emmy-winning hit, which ran until 1983. Once the show wrapped, Davis retired. David Davis died on November 4, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 86.
