Actor David Hull successfully transitioned from roles on the Broadway stage to supporting turns on television, most notably as the often-shirtless, remarkably centered Josh White on "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (The CW, 2015- ). Born in Ohio in 1985, Hull was raised outside of Cincinnati and initially wanted to pursue a degree in mathematics in order to achieve his goal of designing roller coasters. But after taking a job as a performer in music revues at an area theme park, he decided to make acting his career. Work in summer stock led to his debut on Broadway in 2003 as a member of the ensemble for "Wicked," which was soon followed by his first national tour with the show. In 2010, he made his screen-acting debut with a bit role on the Showtime series "The Big C" (2010-13), which he soon followed with a role in the 2011 revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" opposite Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway. His musical theater career soon dovetailed with his screen appearances, thanks to dancer/chorus roles on "Smash" (NBC, 2012-13) and "The Sound of Music Live!" (NBC, 2013), but Hull's first small screen role of note came with a small but memorable recurring turn on "The Middle" (ABC, 2009- ) as a handsome and constantly shirtless greeter at an Abercrombie & Fitch retail store. Lack of a shirt also initially defined his breakout role as Josh White on the Emmy-winning comedy-musical series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Eternally upbeat and fearless in regard to his bisexuality, Josh - known as "White Josh" to differentiate him from Vincent Rodriguez III's Josh Chan - was initially a recurring character, but positive feedback from viewers led to his shift to a series regular in the show's third season. During this period, Hull also enjoyed a recurring role on "Insecure" (HBO, 2016- ) as a co-worker in Yvonne Orji's law firm.
