David Spielberg is a longtime veteran of series television who can often be found playing nice-guy or conservative roles. He appeared as a deputy district attorney in "The Bold Ones: The Lawyers," a drama that aired during the early '70s, which led to co-starring on the sitcom "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," based on the 1969 comedy. Spielberg played Ted Henderson, the role popularized by Elliot Gould in the movie; unfortunately, standards for broadcast television prevented the show from matching the original's risqué material and it was quickly cancelled. While his film roles were not nearly as prevalent as his television ones, during this time he did appear in "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds," Paul Newman's 1972 adaptation of the critically acclaimed stage play. As the science teacher Mr. Goodman, he served as a positive role model for main protagonist Matilda "Tillie" Hunsdorfer. In the latter half of the decade, he co-starred in another sitcom, "The Practice," as a doctor with an uptown office trying to convince his crusty physician dad to join him. During the '80s, he appeared as a guest in dramas, soap operas, and action programs like "Wiseguy," in which he had a pivotal role in a storyline featuring international gun-running. He also landed a small part in John Carpenter's 1983 horror movie "Christine," about a possessed car.
