Douglas Spencer
Douglas Spencer was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Early on in his acting career, Spencer landed roles in various films, including the thriller "The Big Clock" (1948) with Ray Milland, "Follow Me Quietly" (1949) and the crime flick "Chicago Deadline" (1949) with Alan Ladd. He also appeared in the Montgomery Clift dramatic adaptation "A Place in the Sun" (1951), the spy thriller "The Redhead and the Cowboy" (1951) with Glenn Ford and the Kenneth Tobey horror feature "The Thing" (1951). He continued to act in productions like the dramatic biopic "Houdini" (1953) with Tony Curtis, "She's Back on Broadway" (1953) with Virginia Mayo and the drama "The Glass Wall" (1953) with Vittorio Gassman. He also appeared in "Shane" (1953). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "The Kentuckian" (1955), "Pardners" (1956) and the Anthony Quinn western "Man From Del Rio" (1956). He also appeared in the crime adaptation "Short Cut to Hell" (1957) with Robert Ivers and "The Three Faces of Eve" (1957). Spencer was most recently credited in "Journey: Women Off the Map" (WE tv, 2000-02). Spencer passed away in October 1960 at the age of 50.
