François Létourneau was a Gemini Award-winning actor, playwright, and writer from Quebec. Born in Sainte-Foy (now part of Quebec City), he graduated from the Montreal Conservatory in 1999 with a degree in dramatic arts, and premiered his debut play, "Stampede," only two years later. His second play, 2003's sex trade narrative "Cheech, ou les hommes de Chrysler sont en ville," earned him a nomination for the Prix du Gouverneur général and was translated into several languages. He would later adapt and star in the 2006 film version. In 2005, he made his first venture into television with the comedy "Les invincibles" (Radio-Canada, 2005-2009). Co-created and co-written with Jean-François Rivard, this police mockumentary proved to be a massive hit, leading to a French remake that premiered on ARTE in 2010. While appearing in both film and television projects (among them 2008's "René Levesque - Le destin d'un chef," 2009's "Tout sur moi," and 2010's "Les rescapés," all on Radio-Canada), he geared up for his second television collaboration with Rivard, 2014's meta-thriller "Série Noire." The first season of "Série Noire" was nominated for 14 Gemini Awards and won 11, including best drama and best writing. Between seasons one and two, Létourneau reunited with directorFrançois Bouvier (2009's "Les hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin") to star as the title character in "Paul á Québec," a tragicomedy based on Michel Rabagliati's best-selling semi-autobiographical graphic novel.
