Throughout his Hollywood career, Guy Mitchell had a variety of powerful musical performances. In 1938, he was signed by Warner Bros. at age 11, and performed on KFWB in Los Angeles. In 1950, he was signed to Columbia Records. In 1951, he had his first hit, "My Heart Cries for You." His music was also used in the dramatic adaptation "Housekeeping" (1987) with Christine Lahti. Mitchell began his career with a role in the Rosemary Clooney musical comedy "Red Garters" (1954). Mitchell was most recently credited in the Joaquin Phoenix smash hit musical drama "Walk the Line" (2005). Mitchell was married to Jackie Loughery. Mitchell passed away in July 1999 at the age of 72.
