Hans Albers
Silent leading man who began in films around 1910 and kept busy until shortly before his death half a century later, moving successfully into middle-aged roles and occasional supporting parts after the coming of sound. Albers played the title roles of such films as "Peer Gynt" (1934) and "Baron Muenchhausen" (1943) but is probably best remembered as Mazeppa in Joseph von Sternberg's memorable first melodrama with Marlene Dietrich, "The Blue Angel" (1930).
