Best known for his role as Ando Masahashi on the superhero adventure series "Heroes," James Kyson Lee moved with his family from South Korea to the Bronx in New York City at age 10. After attending the distinguished Bronx High School of Science, he went on to study communications at Boston University and the New England Institute of Art. After college, he moved to Los Angeles, where he pursued his interest in jazz singing, musical theater, and acting. He joined the Asian-American improv troupe called Room to Improv, and honed his improvisation skilled with the well-reputed Groundlings and the Upright Citizen Brigade. In 2003, he booked a job on his first TV audition, which was for a small role on the Naval law drama "JAG." The next year he made six appearances on television, which included roles on "The West Wing" and "Alias." He appeared in a number of TV shows, films, and shorts, but most often in small bit parts. Then in 2006, he landed a recurring role as Ando, the sidekick to the time traveling Hiro Nakamura, on "Heroes." As the series picked up momentum in the second season, Ando was promoted to a series regular. During the award-winning series' four-season run, Lee appeared in 62 episodes, and gained notice. Since the show's start, Lee has performed in more than 10 films, including the horror thriller "Shutter," the sex comedy "How to Make Love to a Woman," and the animated comedy "Despicable Me."
