Although Jean-Baptise Léonetti was born and raised in Paris, and maintained residence there in adulthood, his contributions to the world of commercial and artistic filmmaking spread to many quarters of the world. Léonetti first made his name shooting commercials for big name brands and documentary projects for European television, before graduating to crafting short films and ultimately features, both productions of his native France, such as "Carré blanc" (2011), and of Hollywood, beginning with the action thriller "Beyond the Reach" (2014). Jean-Baptise Léonetti was born in 1967 in Paris, France. He began his filmmaking career in the early 1990s, working chiefly in the direction and production of commercials; Léonetti collaborated with advertisement campaigns of international companies like Coca Cola, PlayStation, and Canon. Additionally, Léonetti developed short-form documentary projects for the French-German public service television station Channel Arte. Léonetti's first proper independent film as a writer and director was the 30-minute-long short feature "Le pays des ours" (2008), which chronicled the existential crises of three adults who have each reached a crossroads in his or her life. Next, Léonetti leapt to feature direction, releasing his debut "Carré blanc" (2011). Yet another internally-focused project, Léonetti explored the ins and outs of married life, planting his mature love story against a politically-charged backdrop. Working with actor Michael Douglas and his production company Furthur Films, Léonetti took his talents to the United States of America, directing Douglas in "Beyond the Reach" (2014), a Mojave Desert-set thriller about two men ensnared in a life-or-death game during a high stakes hunting trip.
