      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Beyond the Reach promises goofy genre pleasures, but fails to deliver, losing the viewer -- and a villainous turn from Michael Douglas -- in a misguided story that stumbles to the finish.

donnie m tried to watch this because i'd seen most every movie on but the way michael douglas looks/talks and acts in this is 'horrible' in his 'drugstore' cowboy outfit and he talks with food in his mouth and is just GROSS...... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review C F They should've spent less on the Benz and something on a screenwriter. A slingshot? Is that gunna happen? I can't wait until this thing is over. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Georgan G A solid dramatic thriller, despite some flaws. Douglas adds class as well as good acting to his villain. Irvine's character is full of flaws that slows the plot. The film was too long. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Disappointing movie as it just seemed to drag on with little interest or suspense. The only cool part was watching the Mercedes jeep drive across the desert. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Michael Douglas seems to be desperate enough to accept any role now! I need my time back! It’s basically a giant commercial for Mercedes G class! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/20 Full Review Audience Member Well Michael Douglas is always nice to watch even if the story has a preposterous premise. I found it overlong, poorly shot, and nothing very new about it. Waste of time. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jonathan Romney Observer (UK) Irvine works hard, but the film is content to let his torso do most of the talking. Rated: 2/5 Aug 2, 2015 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times An ending so breathtakingly, eye-rubbingly stupid, it's almost worth the admission price. Rated: 2/5 Jul 31, 2015 Full Review Sophie Monks Kaufman Little White Lies There is the ghost of a good idea in this clunky machine. Rated: 2/5 Jul 31, 2015 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie The Reach's entertainment value is just as dry and empty as its vast desert location. Rated: 4/10 Jun 5, 2019 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine There is simply not enough logic or motivation to explain the film's second half, and it completely destroys the relatively promising work undertaken in the first. Rated: 4/10 Jun 3, 2019 Full Review Stephen O'Nion One Room With A View Douglas's Gordon Wakko wealthy-bastard schtick keeps Beyond The Reach from getting trapped in an all too familiar game of cat-and-mouse.
