Jessica Klein
Emmy-nominated writer, Jessica Klein began her career as a writer on the soap opera "As the World Turns" in 1984. There she met Steve Wasserman, a fellow writer. The two's romantic entanglement led to the birth of their daughter, Shira Wasserman, who would appear in bit parts years later on a different series that was penned by her parents, the popular teen drama "Beverly Hills, 90210." The couple eventually split, and Klein remarried on October 29, 2000 to Isaac Levenbrown. Her work on "As the World Turns" garnered her first Emmy nomination and a nod from the Writers Guild of America. Klein built her career writing for a number of shows, including the soap opera "Capitol," the mystery series "Mancuso, FBI," and the Alaska-set dramedy "Northern Exposure." Klein joined the writers of "Beverly Hills, 90210" in the latter half of season one. By season four, Klein had been promoted to supervising producer on the series. Klein left the show in 1997, and went on to write and produce for "Just Deal," and "Scout's Safari." Her work on the latter led to her second Emmy nomination in 2004. Jessica Klein died on July 13, 2022 in Beverly Hills, CA at the age of 66.
