Joe Devlin
Joe Devlin was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Devlin's career in acting began with his roles in various films like the crime picture "King of the Underworld" (1939) with Humphrey Bogart, "Torchy Runs For Mayor" (1939) and "Half a Sinner" (1940). He also appeared in "The Devil With Hitler" (1942), the comedy "Hi, Diddle Diddle" (1943) with Adolphe Menjou and "Delinquent Daughters" (1944). He kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in "The Phantom" (1944), "Bedside Manner" (1945) and "Boston Blackie's Rendezvous" (1945). He also appeared in "Captain Eddie" (1945), the Joe Yule comedy "Bringing Up Father" (1946) and the Tom Conway crime drama "Criminal Court" (1946). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "San Quentin" (1946), the John Garfield sports "Body and Soul" (1947) and the comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Cops" (1955) with Bud Abbott. He also appeared in "Tennessee's Partner" (1955) and "Good Times" (1967) with Sonny And Cher. Devlin was most recently credited in "Brenda Starr, Reporter" (2011). Devlin passed away in October 1973 at the age of 79.
