John Clive
John Clive, an English actor and author, made notable appearances in many films of the 1960s and 1970s. Clive started his acting career at the age of 15 and went on to land many roles in London stage productions. The actor made his first film appearance in the 1967 musical comedy "Smashing Time." The following year, Clive was cast as a voice actor in the Beatles film "Yellow Submarine," dubbing the voice of John Lennon. Clive got his big break in the 1969 caper comedy "The Italian Job," playing a garage manager, and also landed a small role in the controversial Stanley Kubrick classic "A Clockwork Orange" in 1971. Clive made a notable appearance in the 1972 film "Carry on Abroad," playing the first openly gay character in the "Carry on..." film series. Clive also appeared in the crime comedies "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" and "Revenge of the Pink Panther." In addition to his film roles, he has made numerous appearances in television series, including a recurring role in the 1975 mini-series "How Green was My Valley," based on Richard Llewellyn's novel about a Welsh family living in a mining community. He also continues to appear in theater productions. Aside from his acting work, Clive has gained recognition for his historical novels.
