John McGuire

John McGuire was an actor who founded his entertainment career success with roles in film. McGuire began his acting career appearing in various films, such as the comedy "Steamboat 'Round the Bend" (1935) with Will Rogers, the comedy "Your Uncle Dudley" (1935) with Edward Everett Horton and "Charlie Chan at the Circus" (1936). He also appeared in "Human Cargo" (1936), "The Prisoner of Shark Island" (1936) with Warner Baxter and the Peter Lorre crime picture "Stranger on the Third Floor" (1940). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties and the fifties, appearing in "The Invisible Ghost" (1941), the Roy Rogers western "Bells of San Angelo" (1947) and the Gene Autry musical "The Strawberry Roan" (1948). He also appeared in the Ricardo Montalban drama "Border Incident" (1949) and "Military Academy With That Avenue Gang" (1950). McGuire was most recently credited in "Hiding in Plain Sight: Tales of a Fugitive" (2000-01). McGuire had a number of different projects under his belt in the fifties through the nineties, including "The Tanks Are Coming" (1951), "Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales" (CBS, 1979-1980) and "Raggedy Ann and Andy in the Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile" (CBS, 1979-1980). His credits also expanded to "When the Wind Blows" (1988) and "A Tale of Cinderella" (PBS, 1997). McGuire passed away in September 1980 at the age of 70.
