Johnny Nash

Johnny Nash landed a career in Hollywood by becoming a talented reggae artist. Nash began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like "Black Joy" (1978), the dramatic comedy "Sweet Hearts Dance" (1988) with Don Johnson and the comedic drama "Immediate Family" (1989) with Glenn Close. His music also appeared in the adventurous drama "Thelma & Louise" (1991) with Geena Davis. Though known first for his music, Nash also acted in "Take a Giant Step" (1959) and the Jeffrey Hunter crime drama "Key Witness" (1960). In the nineties, Nash's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like the Leon Robinson dramatic adventure "Cool Runnings" (1993), the Alfre Woodard dramedy "Crooklyn" (1994) and "Grosse Pointe Blank" (1997) with John Cusack. His work was also in "Mr. Magoo" (1997) with Leslie Nielsen, the animated adventure "Antz" (1998) with Woody Allen and "Deep Blue Sea" (1999). Nash's music was also featured in "Angel Eyes" (2001), the Ben Stiller comedy "Envy" (2004) and the Matthew Broderick crime drama "The Last Shot" (2004). His music was also featured in "Over Her Dead Body" (2008) and the Megan Fox thriller "Jennifer's Body" (2009). Nash's music was most recently featured in "What's Your Number?" (2011) with Anna Faris. Johnny Nash died on October 6, 2020 in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He was 80 years old.
