Julie Gardner is an award-winning television producer operating internationally out of Los Angeles. After working with Jane Tranter at the BBC and BBC Worldwide Productions, she co-founded Bad Wolf with Tranter in 2015, and later founded Bad Wolf America in 2019. Since the launch of Bad Wolf, Gardner has executive produced titles including "Doctor Who" (BBC One/Disney+, (2005-), "The War Between the Land and the Sea" (BBC One/Disney+, 2025-), "Red Eye" (Hulu/ITV1, 2025-), "The Winter King" (ITVX/MGM+, 2023) and "I Hate Suzie" (HBO Max/Sky 2020-22). Bad Wolf America's first scripted title is the limited series "Lady in the Lake" (Apple TV+, 2024-). The series, starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram, is directed and showrun by Alma Har'el. Gardner previously served as BBC's Head of Drama, BBC Wales, where she spearheaded the 2005 revival of BAFTA-winning "Doctor Who," launched the series "Torchwood" (2006-11) and "The Sarah Jane Adventures" (2008-10). Additionally, she oversaw brand enhancing events such as the concert series, "Doctor Who at the Proms." As BBC Commissioner, Gardner led an award-winning slate of independent programming including "The Girl in the Cafe" (2005), "Casanova" (2005), "Life on Mars" (2006-7), "Being Human" (2009-13) and "Stuart: A Life Backwards" (2007). At BBC Worldwide Productions, Gardner executive produced titles such as "Da Vinci's Demons" (Starz, 2013- 15) and "Getting On" (HBO, 2013-15). Julie Gardner is an honorary fellow of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the University of West Glamorgan. In recognition of her contribution to the growth of the television industry in Wales, Gardner was made an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2014. She has received multiple accolades, including the Sian Phillips Award at BAFTA Cymru in 2013 and the Outstanding Contribution to Television Award at BAFTA Cymru in 2024.
