Born on July 22, 1924, American singer Margaret Whiting came from a musical family. Her father was known for composing classics like "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and "Ain't We Got Fun," and her sister and aunt were also involved in the music business. Whiting and her sister Barbara starred in the mid-1950s television series "Those Whiting Girls." As a teenager, she recorded "Moonlight in Vermont" and "It Might As Well Be Spring" under the guidance of Johnny Mercer, a friend of her father's. Her well-known recordings also include duets such as "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with Johnny Mercer and "Silver Bells" with Jimmy Wakely. Some of her music was later featured in films, including "The Right Stuff" (1983) and "Julie & Julia" (2009). Margaret Whiting died on January 10, 2011 in Englewood, NJ at the age of 86.
