Matthew Arkin can trace his acting career back to when he was 17 years old. Arkin started his entertainment career by acting in comedies like the Elijah Wood film "North" (1994) and the Jim Carrey blockbuster "Liar Liar" (1997). He also appeared in the TV movie "The Defection of Simas Kudirka" (CBS, 1977-78). He worked in television in his early acting career as well, including parts on "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC, 1999-). He continued to work steadily in television throughout the early 2000s, appearing on "Ed" (NBC, 2000-04) and "NCIS" (CBS, 2003-). He kept working in film throughout the early 2000s, starring in the Amy Laughlin comedy "The Curse" (2000) and the Robin Williams comedy "Death to Smoochy" (2002). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the comedy "Second Best" (2005) with Joe Pantoliano, the dramatic adaptation "Raising Flagg" (2007) with Alan Arkin and "Margot at the Wedding" (2007) with Nicole Kidman. He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "Switched at Birth" (ABC Family, 2010-17). Arkin most recently acted in the crime flick "Veronica Mars" (2014) with Kristen Bell. Arkin was Alan Arkin's son and Adam Arkin's brother.
