Matthew Betz was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Betz started his acting career landing roles in such films as "Boomerang Bill" (1922), "White Fang" (1925) and "The Patent Leather Kid" (1927). He also appeared in "Broadway After Midnight" (1927), the May McAvoy mystery adaptation "The Terror" (1928) and "The Wedding March" (1928) with Erich von Stroheim. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the twenties and the thirties, appearing in "The Big House" (1930), the western "The Fighting Marshal" (1931) with Tim McCoy and "Gold" (1932). In the latter half of his career, he tackled roles in "Via Pony Express" (1933), the Buster Crabbe adventure "Tarzan the Fearless" (1933) and "The Big Chance" (1933). He also appeared in "The Countess of Monte Cristo" (1934) and "On Probation" (1935). Betz more recently acted in "Fury Below" (1938). Betz passed away in January 1938 at the age of 57.
