Matthew Ferguson

Canadian actor Matthew Ferguson is best known for his role as computer whiz Seymour Birkoff on "La Femme Nikita," the television series inspired by the action film of the same name. Ferguson's career began in the theater at 16, when he played Morgan Moreen in "Geometry in Venice," and his portrayal earned him a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination. He broke into Canadian television in 1992 with a recurring role on "Street Legal." The next year he appeared on the American program "Top Cops" and was soon snagging roles in film and TV, including a small role in the 1996 Oscar-winning drama "The English Patient." The following year he landed the role of Birkoff on "La Femme Nikita," and would go on to appear in 90 episodes of the series' five-season run, during which he would take on a second role as Birkoff's long-lost twin, Jason Crawford. His work on the show earned him a Gemini Award nomination. After the show wrapped in 2001, Ferguson garnered a recurring role on the Canadian sitcom "An American in Canada," and appeared in a string of films: "Cube 2: Hypercube," "Three and a Half," and "Owning Mahowny." In 2003, he took to voice work with a role in the animated comedy "Odd Job Jack." When the show wrapped in 2007, Ferguson took a break from film and TV, returning in 2010 on "Murdoch Mysteries" and "Unnatural History."
