Morocco Omari was born on May 7, 1975, in Chicago, IL. He began acting professionally in his early 20s, kicking off his career with one-off roles in series like "Early Edition" (CBS 1996-2000), "Frasier" (NBC 1993-2004), "Angel" (The WB 1999-2004), and "24" (Fox 2001-2010, 2014). In 2001, Omari married actress JoNell Kennedy. Shortly afterward, Omari landed his earliest recurring part on the revival series "Dragnet" (ABC 2003-04) and "Joan of Arcadia" (CBS 2003-05). Omari made his feature film debut with a small role in "Constellation" (2005), a drama film costarring Zoe Saldana, Billy Dee Williams, and Gabrielle Union. In 2006, Omari and Kennedy's marriage ended in divorce. In the years to follow, he mostly worked in short films and further one-off television appearances before landing a recurring role on the popular espionage thriller series "Homeland" (Showtime 2011-). Shortly afterward, Omari earned a major part on the music industry-based drama series "Empire" (Fox 2015-), on which he played the role of FBI Agent Tariq Cousins, half-brother to Terrence Howard's series protagonist.
